THRILL SEEKERS will experience the feeling of being inside a cannon at the fastest waterslide at the £13.3m redeveloped Coral Reef.

The swimming complex, famous for the pirate ship at its centre, has added to the theme with new slide The Cannon.

The slide has the smallest circumference of any of the redeveloped slides and is a massive 67m long.

It also features a timer counting down for dare-devils to race against the clock.

When reaching the bottom of the slide, riders will then see their time projected on an LED screen.

Councillor Iain McCracken, executive member for culture, corporate services and public protection said: “The Cannon is Coral Reef’s fastest new slide and certainly one for all the extreme thrill seekers out there. This slide will challenge even the bravest of shipmates and will sort the seafarers from the landlubbers.

“This slide will create a real competitive edge as visitors try to beat the fastest time recorded that day and get themselves to the top of the leader board.”

The speed of the ride is classed as 'severe' and a new rider will be fired down the cannon every 20 seconds.
