ASCOT’S first Montessori nursery is celebrating its second anniversary as pupil numbers continue to rise.

The school was founded by Mary Brosnan in 2015 and was opened by Windsor MP Adam Afriyie (see picture below).

With a vision to create pre-school provision with a difference, Ms Brosnan brought her commercial acumen together with a training in Montessori teaching methods to create an innovative ‘village’ themed nursery.

Ms Brosnan said: "In 2015 we welcomed our first four children through the doors of Storybook Montessori and two years later we have grown to have 48 children and a teaching team of 14.

"Our second year is particularly exciting as we see our first children graduate to primary schools. We thought that was worth celebrating and chose a Hawaiian themed party as a fun way to bring together over 100 parents, children and staff to celebrate."

In addition to being the first and only Montessori school in Ascot, the nursery also provides pre-school care and learning for a broader range of ages than the norm, catering for the under and over twos, and appeals to busy parents by providing year-round care, rather than the usual term-based Montessori provision.

Storybook Montessori Nursery School is inviting children parents and staff to a Luau, or traditional Hawaiian party, to celebrate their second year in existence.

The second anniversary party will take place in the nursery and include entertainment, music and games for the children and a raffle to raise money for Berkshire based charity, Daisy’s Dream. Craft and Crumb will also be on hand to provide cookery demonstrations and help the children decorate cakes.
