WINDSOR, Slough, Eton & Hounslow (WSEH) athletes were in superb form at the County Championships over the weekend, picking up 35 titles including 10 new records.

The top performer without a doubt was future star Claudia Kerry-Rodger, 12, who won gold in each of the five field events she entered, including a new Bucks County record in the under-13 (U13) discus with 22.44m.

Her other marks were: High jump (1.36m), long jump (3.86m), javelin (14.75m) and shot (7.04m).

At the Berkshire County Championships in Bracknell records were achieved by Harriet Jones in the senior 100m hurdles (14.3 seconds), Orla Brennan in the 300m hurdles (45.26secs), Jake Norris in the U20 hammer (75.40m), Amy Holder in the senior discus (53.44m) and Jodie Smith in the U17 javelin (37.77m).

In the Bucks County Championships more records resulted with Jasmine Presho winning the U17 pole vault with 3.21m, Jemima Copeman the U17 300m in 40.82secs and Anna Croft the senior 400m hurdles.

In the Middlesex Championships the record haul continued with Francesca Williams taking the U15 hammer with 47.70m.

Here Ellie Chandler was also prominent with a trio of golds in the U20 hammer (44.45m), discus (19.70m) and javelin (30.68m).

In Bracknell, the opening track event, the senior 400m hurdles winner was Emily Barrett in 66.8secs.

The 100m races provided two more WSEH successes with Aaron Richardson taking the senior men’s race in 11.3secs, and Harriet Jones the senior women’s in 12.39secs. The short hurdles events provided a second goal for WSEH with Megan Shaw taking the U20 100m hurdles.

Alex Haydock-Wilson was an easy winner in the U20 400m in 48.89secs. Jess Armah was the first across the line in the senior 200m in 25.43secs. Haydock-Wilson secured his second title in the U20 200m in 22.25secs.

The best of the distance races came in the 1,500m where U15 Eloisa Harris emerged the victor in 4:57.5, and Dan Brookling won the U20 men in 4:26.5. The triple jump event saw more success with Sarah Melbourne winning the U20 event with 10.94m and Klaudia Walas the U17 on 10.76m.

Jodie Smith had a good day with her second win of the afternoon with a personal best of 1.62m in the U17 high jump. Amy Holder also grabbed her second gold when winning the senior shot with 10.65m.

The U20 men’s pole vault saw Jack McCara as the podium topper with 2.70m. More success came the way of Lionel Owona with his U17 high jump win on 1.65m. Jake Norris was another to secure a second gold, winning the U20 discus with 41.96m.

This weekend sees WSEH back in league action. On Saturday the U15/13 young athletes team face a long trip to Southampton looking to improve on their chances of retaining their Premier Division status. On Sunday, the Southern League team go to Kingston looking for another win to maintain their top of the table position.
