Contractors carrying out gas mains work in Horton Road have taken steps to ease the congestion caused - after discussions with Datchet Parish Council.

Lights are now being manually controlled from 4.30pm to 6.30pm - easing the rush hour congestion and this has made a significant difference to the flow during that peak period.

The works have been slow to progress outside of the Drunken Fish, due to engineering difficulties with the deep main and complex trench support needed.

The four way lights are due to vanish briefly while work moves to a side street adjoining Horton Road but will be back for two weeks while digging is carried out on the opposite side of the carriageway to lay the new main.

Less disruptive two way lights will be set up for some time in Horton Road after this.

The contractors have also promised to keep checking the traffic situation and making sure that necessary adjustments are made.
