A SCHOOL in Sunninghill was virtually transported to the Himalayas thanks to Google Expeditions and charity Kidasha.
St Michael's Hill Primary school used VR headset alternative Google Cardboard to explore Mount Everest from the comfort of their desks Yesterday (May 16).
Through the immersive and sensory technology, pupils glimpsed what life is like for children their age living in one of the world's poorest countries.
Janice Miller, CEO of Kidasha, a charity dedicated to supporting vulnerable children in Nepal, said: “We were delighted to partner with Google Expeditions on this exciting event.
"Using VR technology and other immersive education techniques to bring Nepal to life for these children has been wonderful."
After touring their surroundings the children tried traditional Nepali foods, including a chick pea based dish called chatpatey and sweet treat jalebi, before trying on classic Nepali clothing.
Ms Miller added: "The pupils really engaged with the topic and gained insight into what it’s like for children their age living on the other side of the world.”
