A POLICE officer accused of grabbing a teenager by the neck has been given a written warning.

PC Peter Crimmins who was accused of using force inappropriately was cleared at a force misconduct hearing last week but was handed a written warning for failing to fill in necessary paperwork.

He was found to have breached Thames Valley Police's standards of professional behaviour following the incident on June 17 last year.

After the three-day misconduct hearing which concluded on Friday, April 22, it was decided that PC Crimmins had used force appropriately, but he had failed to document it later.

The Loddon Valley-based officer's written warning will last for a period of 12 months.

At around 9.30pm on June 17, PC Crimmins was deployed to Howard Palmer Gardens in Wokingham.

He was responding to reports of youths behaving anti-socially and arrived behind two PCSOs who were already on the scene.

One of the 15 year olds - witness A - was said to have moved away from the group to take a phone call and claimed: 'This guy's being a k***'.

PC Crimmins allegedly responded by grabbing Witness A before pushing him backwards.

After the incident, PC Crimmins failed to fill in a 'use of force' form or make any other record of using force, until he was advised to do so by PS O’Brien the following day.
