A man who left a woman with serious injuries after running her over and leaving her by the side of the road was jailed for nine years last week.

The horrifying incident happened outside Wexham Park Golf Club in Wexham Street on Monday, May 16 when Terry McDonagh became involved in an argument with a group of women at about 6.20pm.

The incident ended with the 27-year-old victim being run over and abandoned on the side of the road with a fractured pelvis.

McDonagh, 24, of India Way, Hammersmith was charged the next day and pleaded guilty at Aylesbury Crown Court on August 12 to causing grievous bodily harm with intent and dangerous driving.

At the same court last Tuesday he was sentenced to nine years imprisonment.

He was also disqualified from driving for nine years and six months and will have to take an extended retest if he ever wants to drive again.

Investigating Officer Det Con Thomas Gregory of Local CID based at High Wycombe police station said: “This was a horrific incident and left the victim with serious injuries which she is still suffering from. Not only did McDonagh run the victim over, he also chose to drive off from the scene seeking no medical care, leaving her by the side of the road with severe injuries.

“I am grateful to the victim for the bravery she has shown in speaking to the police and hopefully the sentence imposed by the court shows how seriously the incident was taken and will allow her to focus on her recovery.”

The incident caused shockwaves in Wexham.

Wexham Park Golf Centre has become one of the most popular venues in its area for parties, weddings and celebrations after its recent refurbishment, boasting a clubhouse and a specialist function suite.
