A famous Slough astronomer has inspired an artist to stage her own 'illuminating exhibition' at venues across the town.
The exhibition entitled Transforming from Stardust has been curated by artist Lorna Carmen McNeil and will be opened by the Mayor of Slough Arvind Dhaliwal next Wednesday at Room 350 above Slough Aspire Centre in Edinburgh Avenue.
It is part of the Spark Festival - which is itself part of the HOME Slough project funded by Arts Council England's Creative People and Places programme and Slough Borough Council.
Lorna’s installation is inspired by William Herschel, a Slough based astronomer whose amazing discoveries include the planet Uranus and the infra-red technology which has contributed to modern fibre optics used by the artist in her sculptures.
The Transforming from Stardust exhibition will later visit The Curve, Slough on Friday, December 2 and Saturday, December 3.
The Spark Festival finale on December 3 will include a 5m high Star Man puppet, pyrotechnic performers and a community stars lantern parade at twilight through Slough Town Centre.
The event is presented by Creative Junction, the Slough based non-profit organisation founded to bring art and culture to people in the town. It has been operating since 2002.
