ELDERLY residents were treated to a free lunch at Age Concern Slough and Berkshire East's Cippenham club to mark International Older People's Day and Silver Sunday.
Members at the Cippenham club had a free exercise class and a lunch of chicken curry and rice which was cooked and served by the Slough Muslim Network.
The Slough Muslim Network seeks to cater for the social needs of Slough residents through the delivery of projects and services.
Ahmed, a member of the network, said: “It really was a blessed day to be with our special friends. Compassion and respect towards the elderly is a tenet of Islam.”
Kevin Griffiths, acting CEO of Age Concern Slough and Berkshire East, was grateful for the catering. He said: “Everybody enjoyed their spicy treat and was very appreciative.
“Our centres are a vital community cog in providing companionship and preventing loneliness.”
Cippenham's Age Concern club is based at Maria Cowland Hall in Bower Way and is open to the local elderly on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9am-3pm.
