Ye Olde George in Colnbrook High Street is due to reopen tonight under new management following its unexpected closure at the start of the week.

Mystified villagers found the pub closed and locked on Monday.

The Colnbrook Community Association broke the news via social media late, noting: “We learn with sadness that the Old George closed today following the departure of the manager. We understand that it will reopen as soon as a replacement manager arrives."

Punch Taverns, who secured a lease on the site last Christmas responded with a terse announcement, saying: “We are pleased to advise that the Old George will re-open to the public this Thursday September and will be run by a local publicans, well known to the area.

"We look forward to supporting them to ensure the Old George continues to serve its local community well.”

The company confirmed that Jenny Burgess, who used to work at the pub would be the new licensee.
