DISABLED sports stars will gather to compete at a popular annual games next week.

The Disabled Games, organised by Participation Association Leisure Sports (PALS) will take place at Slough Disabled Club in Northern Road on Saturday and Sunday next week.

PALS, formerly known as Slough and District Sports Association for Disabled (SADSAD), will host the games for the 39th year.

The games, which started in 1977 after former Slough Mayor George Brooker MBE and Slough Rotary Club set it up, welcomes teams from all surrounding towns to participate.

Cups and prizes will be up for grabs for dozens of athletes taking part in the contest at the George Brooker Centre in Stoke Park Playing Fields, which is owned by the Slough Trust.

The participants will be competing in a range of disciplines, including walking races, archery, bowls, table tennis, electric slalom, track and field and snooker.
