AS students up and down Bracknell revelled in their A-level accomplishments, Bracknell Forest Council revealed today the borough-wide pass rate had again beaten the national average.

The overall A-level pass rate in Bracknell Forest schools was an impressive 98.9 per cent compared to the national average pass rate reported as 98.1 per cent. 77.13 per cent of all entries were at A*-C with 52.5 per cent at the higher (A*-B) grades.

This is up 0.1 per cent on the rate of 98.8 per cent achieved last year by council schools, which in turn surpassed the 2015 national average of 98.1 per cent.

Janette Karklins, director of children, young people and learning, congratulated all Sixth Formers who received their results.

She said: "I would like to thank all of our teachers and school staff who have worked to continually raise standards and support our young people to achieve these impressive results.

"The pass rate again remains above the figure achieved nationally which is a fantastic achievement.

“We are delighted once again with our amazing students, who have done fantastically well this year overall at A-level and vocational subjects."

Cllr Gareth Barnard, executive member for children, young people and learning, said all students should feel very proud of the rewards they have reaped for their hard work and determination.

He added: "It is great news that our A-level and Level 3 students are continuing to achieve above the national average as we continue to work with schools to understand the needs of our students and help them towards their career aspirations.

"I wish all this year’s students every success for the future."
