WORK to install a 720-metre water pipe in Binfield gets underway on Monday, April 18.

The project is expected to finish before the Bracknell Half Marathon on Sunday, May 8.

It's hoped the first phase will secure tap water supplies, improve water pressure and reduce the number of burst pipes in Binfield.

South East Water held a drop in consultation with the community on Tuesday, March 22.

South East Water Project Manager, Steve Lambert, said: "It was good to speak with members of the local community and explain how the benefits of this scheme will be felt for years to come.

"We will be working as quickly as possible to make sure the half marathon route along Temple Way is clear for runners taking part in the event.

"However, if we are unable to complete our work here before the event, we will ensure our equipment is packed away so the road can still be used.

"This work is necessary to improve the capacity of our underground water supply network as the community grows.

"Local residents will also have a more secure water supply, with less chance of bursts and leaks as a result of this project."

Phase one will see a short section laid along Temple Way at the junction with Binfield Road and continue through woodland next to Cut River.

The pipeline will then cross Binfield Road and continue across a short section of Harvest Ride.

During the second phase 120 metres of water pipe will be laid along Harvest Ride near to the junction with Totale Rise.

This work is expected to start on May 17 and finish by mid-July.
