A THREE week road closure which caused tensions between two neighbouring councils, has reopened to traffic ahead of schedule.
Winkfield Road, between its junction with North Street (Squirrel roundabout) and the Legoland roundabout has now reopened to traffic, under temporary traffic signals.
The stretch of road was closed two weeks ago to allow Bracknell Forest Council engineers to carry out essential drainage culvert wall repairs, as they were close to collapse.
However, The Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead, criticised the council for not having "listened to concerns over the traffic impact".
Cllr Chris Turrell, Bracknell Forest Council’s executive member for planning and transport, said: “I am very pleased Winkfield Road is partially open, ahead of schedule. My thanks go to the contractors who have worked hard on this. We will now aim to make similar good progress on the rest of the job.
"We would urge drivers to take extra care when driving through these lights to ensure the safety of contractors still working on the site."
