A COMMUNITY based around a pub has had its hard work acknowledged by the cause it has been tirelessly raising cash for.
Mairead Sheehan, landlady of Shamrocks pub in Langley, along with Jim Bright and volunteers, were visited by Thames Hospice on Saturday 19, as a thanks for their fundraising efforts throughout the year.
Mrs Sheehan said: “Thames Hospice came down to show their support and thank us for what we’d done.
“It was really lovely and we are very proud.
“We intend to raise more money starting next month with a race night and a darts evening.”
Alison Evans, community and events fundraising manager at Thames Hospice said: “They have done an outstanding job and raising over £6,000 is fantastic.
“They’ve been organising events now since January and we are honoured and grateful that they’ve given so much of their time and effort.
"If there were more people in the community doing that we would be really happy.”
