THE new name and identity for Bracknell's regenerated town centre has been announced.

Developers hope 'The Lexicon Bracknell' will be a hub for people to meet for coffee, socialise and enjoy the new shops and restaurants due to open in the Spring of 2017.

They say the name signifies 'the shared experiences and conversations that the new town centre will create' and have chosen a green and aubergine colour scheme to reflect the forest and greenery in the borough.

Simon Russian, head of retail development for the Bracknell Regeneration Partnership, said: "Sometimes names can take a while for people to get used to, we're very excited about it and hope people will be pleased.

"The name was chosen by our development team after a long process, a team who know Bracknell really well and who have worked hard on this regeneration.

"It's about being connected really. It will be very easy to get around in the new town centre, park up and you can walk just about anywhere in five minutes. We want Bracknell to be the place to meet."

A new website has been launched today www.thelexiconbracknell.co.uk as well as Twitter feeds and a Facebook page.

An interactive and 'pioneering' new platform by Vuframe will offer a virtual way to 'walk through' the new town centre and see what it will all be about.

Bracknell Forest Council had little input into the final name, but Cllr Marc Brunel-Walker, the executive member for the regeneration said they were all very excited it had finally been announced.

He said: "We're very pleased with the name. The new town centre is going to be the best place in the south-east to shop. I'm very excited.

"It's a fun name and it's a name that will stick in the mind for all the right reasons."
