OLDER residents celebrated Eid in the best way possible - with a hot three-course lunch.

The Slough Muslim Network came to Age Concern Slough and Berkshire East to partake in Eid-ul-Fitr, translated as the 'festival of breaking of the fast', marking the end of the month of Ramadan by providing a meal for 120 people.

Islam encourages charitable deeds and social contribution by encouraging Muslims to share their blessings with those less fortunate and the month of Ramadan is a time to escalate charitable service.

The lunch commenced with speeches followed by delicious dishes - all supplied, prepared and served by the hosts from the Slough Muslim Network.

Kevin Griffiths, acting chief executive of Age Concern Slough and Berkshire East, added: "It was clear that everybody had a thoroughly enjoyable time and it was great to see all parts of our ethnically diverse community coming together to socialise and celebrate."
