CLASSIC cars, games and bouncy castles were all the craze at a horticultural society’s show on Saturday.

The Stoke Poges, Wexham and Fulmer Horticultural Society Show hosted its 122nd show in style as hundreds of people came flooding through the gates of Stoke Poges School throughout the day.

Visitors were able to enjoy a large display of classic motors which is a feature at the show every year as well as the Reading Spring Gardens Band which performed and various craft and gift stalls. Competition classes were open to people of all ages with a chance to show off their homegrown fruit, flowers, and vegetables or present a range of photographs.

Gaby Battrick, the honorary treasurer for the society, said: “It was a wonderful day, and it always makes us very proud come the end of it.

“We work all year round to raise money for the show and to see so many people come in and enjoy themselves so much makes it all worth while.

“We’ve been going for such a long time now and to continue running so successfully is a major credit to all the people who are involved in the society and a thanks must go to all the people who attended.”

The society was originally formed in 1884. Fulmer village joined in 1885, and in 1923 the name was changed to The Stoke Poges, Wexham and Fulmer Horticultural and Poultry Society, before poultry was removed in 1932.
