SET in quiet surroundings near Burnham in Slough, the historical building of The Burnham Beeches Hotel is easy to find and easily accessible from the M4 and the A4.

The restaurant has a very relaxed and personal atmosphere and is a very suitable place for business lunches and evening meals if you wish to get away from the hustle and bustle.

For starters I chose Crottin de Chavignol goat's cheese wrapped in filo pastry with heritage tomatoes and shallot and herb dressing, while my partner chose a salad of home smoked chicken breast, crispy pancetta, soft poached quail eggs and baby gem lettuce. A few modifications had to be made to cater for her allergies but this was no problem for the staff.

For a main course I chose honey roasted breast of Gressingham duck, croquette of rillettes and port wine sauce, which was absolutely amazing - cooked to perfection and very well presented. My partner had fillets of sea bream, clam and carrot broth with pomme puree and spring greens, which was tasty and very fresh.

The dining experience was fantastic and the staff were very friendly and welcoming. The menu certainly caters for everyone, whether you like meat or are a vegetarian, and as all the food is freshly prepared, catering for allergies is not an issue.

I was unsure if their portions would be adequate enough however we left there fully satisfied and certainly would return and recommend to others.

Bertosz Kowalski, the food and beverage manager, is very experienced and personal and ensured that each guest in the restaurant was well looked after. If you are looking for a peaceful, romantic place to eat, or somewhere for a special occasion then they can certainly provide.
