BINFIELD completed an excellent week for the club with a 1-0 win at Prestwood on Saturday to maintain their unbeaten start to the season in Division One East of the Hellenic League.

Callum Whitty’s 85th minute header earned the victory which moves Steve McClurg’s side to within two points of the league leaders Wokingham and Emmbrook with a game in hand.

But it wasn’t all plain sailing for Binfield who looked very tired after their midweek exertions in against Fareham Town in the FA Vase.

McClurg said: “We didn’t play that well, I think almost all the boys looked very tired. But sometimes you’ve got to roll your sleeves up and get down to the dirty stuff and that’s what we did.

“We weren’t our usual selves but we got that win and that’s the most important thing. It was a good result but we know we’re going to have to play much better against Thame.”

Binfield: Adams, Partridge, Day, Woozley, Millward, Crittenden, Withers, Tallentire, Wing, McClurg, Williams. Subs used: Fenton, Sargeant, Whitty.
