HUNDREDS of people received the red carpet treatment as they attended a family orientated Harvest Festival celebration.

The service at All Saints’ Church in North Ascot was held as part of Back to Church Sunday, a countrywide initiative to welcome people to church.

TV presenter Angellica Bell, who has appeared on children’s programmes and The One Show, visited the church last year to support a former colleague at his father’s memorial service and had planned to attend the Harvest service but was unable to.

She said: “I used to go to church as a young girl and although I don’t attend a church now, it is reassuring to know you can walk into a congregation like All Saints’ and feel a sense of belonging - something that a lot of young people in this day and age do not feel.”

Members of the church choirs, church band, congregation and uniformed groups lined up on the red carpet at the London Road church to welcome people to the service.

Services were also held in churches around Bracknell on Sunday.
