A POLITICS student has been given the chance to witness the inauguration of America's next president but is struggling to fund the trip.
Daniel Priddy, 18, is currently studying A2's in history, economics and government and politics at the Forest School in Robin Hood Lane, Winnersh.
Last summer he was nominated to attend a two week Global Young Leaders Conference in Washington DC and New York by teacher Stephen Breen.
The event was attended by 250 young potential leaders from every corner of the world although Daniel was one of just two students from Britain.
Due to the skills that he demonstrated at the Global Young Leaders conference, Daniel was selected by the University Presidential Inaugural Conference to attend a week-long course which includes seeing the inauguration of the President and the Vice President of The USA.
He is also invited to the following celebrations, panel discussions and keynote addresses from Lance Armstrong and senior White House aids.
He said: "Anyone would find this an amazing experience, but as a politics student its value to my future is just incalculable.
"So far my classmates, the school and my family have been very generous but I am still a long way off of the target I need.
"Hopefully people will be willing to sponsor me, and I have a few fund-raising ideas, such as scaling Britain's Three peaks this summer."
Daniel needs around £1,300 excluding flights, but only has £350 so far. He funded the last trip all by himself but is afraid he will be unable to attend if he does not receive assistance.
Anyone wishing to sponsor Daniel can contact Forest School on 0118 974 7945 or email P.Bradshaw@forest.wokingham.sch.uk.
In September Daniel is hoping to go to Aberystwyth University to study International Politics. He says that if he makes it to America he hopes to see Barack Obama being inaugurated.
